Julian BossARTIST STATEMENTJulians’s work is primarily concerned with transforming the subject of the image by looking for textures and contrasts within a composition, which can then alter one’s sense of form and function. He is looking for musical qualities, suggestions of movement and possible traits of character depending of the particular subject matter. In many instances he tries to lose any sense of scale so that the subject can become abstract. Julian walks with his camera on the seashore or by a tidal riverbank, through a ruined building or wanders amongst the gleaming offices in the city. He is looking for emotion and character in the textures and surfaces- rock pools or skyscrapers; rusting metal or weathered timber. Different shapes and forms can obscure or overlap one another to create exciting compositions. |
